The photo above is an actual image taken during one of those tests. A light-emitting diode was attached to the bullet, showing the amazing pathway that the munition made through the night sky. … Each self-guided bullet is around 4 inches in length. At the tip is an optical sensor, that can detect a laser beam being shone on a far-off target. Two Mig-29 [on the background] intercepted by F-15 Eagles [the two trails flying away and crossing] of the 21st Composite Fighter Wing. The 43rd and 54th Tactical Fighter Squadrons, part of the 21st CFW, patrolled 580,000 square miles from the North Pole to the tip of the Aleutian Islands.
